Day 6: The Church
By placing His mission in the hands of His church, God has challenged every person to be active in His work. We can look at 2,000 years of God’s church growing and mobilizing and know 2 things: God is working through His church in a special way, and there is more to be done. I read the book of Revelation and ask myself, “When will the church be ready for the coming kingdom? What will the church look like when we’re ready?” I feel challenged by God to live a Spirit-led life because I want His church to represent His glory on earth. Today, let’s praise the God who gives us purpose and grows us into a purpose. Tomorrow and all the days ahead, may God bless you with a heart full of praise!
To God
Your bride: the church. Your Holy bride. We number many because Your victory has made a way. Are we ready, Lord? Is the place prepared, Holy Lord? I look and I see homes with no fathers; tables with no food; over-filled shelters; dry rivers. I want us to be ready, Lord. I want unity and wholeness and peace and joy and to be ready. Are we ready, Lord?
Worship will be our banner. We will mine the depths of Your Holy Word. We will send out the gospel. By Your strength, we will reach the nations and heal the hurting. A lost and broken world will look to us, and we will point to You. We work by Your strength: Your Holy, everlasting, life-giving strength. Are we ready, Lord?
Bless Your temple, Your church, Your bride- heavenly Lord. We are weak, but You are strong. We are forgiven because You are mighty to save. We have been reckless, distracted, prideful. It should not be.
We will carry the banner that bears the name of the Lord. You are our lamb. You are our God. You are our heartbeat. Every heartbeat will praise Your name. Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Flow in us. Unite us. We can be ready, Lord: mighty, merciful, magnificent Lord.
It is coming, Lord. This is the moment we will awaken! I feel it now. Renewed spirits! Changed lives! New hearts! Same heartbeat, but new hearts. Marching in rhythm. Seeking You, Lord. Will we ever stop!? No, Lord. God, forbid it. Passion alive. Spirit alive. Voices alive. Oh Lord, break our complacency. Break our pride. Make us the bride You made us to be. We can be water springing forth in dry places. We can be ready, Lord. Our heartbeat can be: ready, ready, ready.
United, rock-standing, worshiping, laser-focused, blessed, serving, strong, harmonized, standing, reaching, teaching, believing, glorifying, praising. Ready.
About this Plan
In this 6-day devotional, we spend time in praise and worship of God. Consider the authors of the Psalms- they witnessed God in their lives moving in a significant way, and their response was poetic, heart-filled, worship. What would it look like to recognize God's fingerprints on your life and your purpose?
