Love God Greatly: Empoweredಮಾದರಿ
The Word of God is not something to be contained. It cannot be stopped by human efforts, evil schemes, or even great mistakes. The gospel continues to transform hearts and lives as much today as it did in the first century with the early church.
When evil people, like King Herod, attempted to stop the spread of the gospel, God intervened. Through a miraculous escape, Peter was freed from prison and his life was spared. God struck Herod because of his wickedness, and even in this wild and shocking series of events, the gospel continued to multiply.
The Word of God and the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ were not contained in the first century, and they are not contained today. Charles Spurgeon, a well-respected preacher from the late 19th century, compared the gospel to a lion. A lion does not need to be defended but simply needs to be let out of its cage.
Spurgeon said, “the best ‘apology’ for the gospel is to let the gospel out . . . preach Jesus Christ and him crucified. Let the Lion out, and see who will dare to approach him. The Lion of the tribe of Judah will soon drive away all his adversaries.” Let’s let the lion out. Let’s continue to preach the gospel and watch it multiply.
Lord God, Your Word is truth. The gospel of Jesus does not need my defense; it can stand on its own. Let me be a faithful witness to the gospel. Lord, let Your work be done in the world. Amen.

About this Plan
Empowered: Yesterday and Today is a deep study of the book of Acts. As we study the early church and the spread of the gospel we hope to find encouragement and strength to continue spreading the message of the gospel in our spheres of influence. God empowered the early church to share the gospel every single day, and He does the same for us, even now.
