DAY 4 OF 11

Visual Reminders

In life, what catches our attention!!! Someone pretty/handsome, famous, someone who seems to have it all together or someone who we think is better than us. Seeing things helps us to understand and comprehend better than just hearing. That's why they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

God designated two mountains, one to symbolize the blessings of obeying God and one to symbolize the curses of disobeying God. We get so caught up with benefits that many have started equating blessings to materialistic possessions. A careful analysis proves that sometimes the most significant wealth and properties are owned by people who do not fear or love the Lord of the Bible.

However, people around those who love the Lord and obey His commandments notice they are different. It is the presence of the Lord. That is why Moses, on top of Mount Sinai, argued with God saying that unless Your presence is goes with us, do not send us from here. Being in the presence of God is being protected, which brings with it a sense of joy, assurance and peace that whatever happens, my God will lead me through it.

Similarly, when we think of curses, we think of evil, possessed and something terrible. When I understand that curse is when God is absent in my life. It causes me to be exposed to the elements, and anything can happen to me, it changes the perspective of life. We are filled with fear and anxiety, which can deny us from enjoying the so-called materialistic blessings we have.

In life, I had lived through seasons when I seemed to have plenty and seasons when I seemed to lack. The memorable and satisfying ones are when I felt God closest to me. For me, it was the moment I got the news my son had breathed his last...I felt God's embrace and comfort, that moment surpasses all the happy and joyful memories I have. The greatest blessing for me is going through life, enjoying the big and small moments without regrets and guilt. My life’s purpose is to be greeted by our maker, saying well done good and faithful servant when my life on earth is done.

Thought for the day:  What would be life’s greatest blessing for me?

May our lives be visual reminders about the sovereign God who dwells in us.
