Three Words From The Creationಮಾದರಿ
Genesis 1:4
Word Study:
In these verses we read about light and darkness. However, our focus is on the word אוֹר(or)light. As we can see in the verse, God saw the light to be good. The same is not written about the darkness. From this, we can learn that it is our responsibility to strive for the light since it contains good.
In Hebrew, the word אוֹר(or)light, with slightly a different punctuation(or → ur), also expresses fire. When we transfer fire from one source and use it to light another, the original fire is not diminished. It remains the same, and the new fire takes on a life of its own without damaging the original fire. So too we should be like the first fire that influences our surroundings for the better.
Furthermore, the Sages say: “A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness.” This means that we do not need a lot of light to conquer the darkness. If our lives have difficult moments, we must believe that even something small can cause a change, just like light chases away the dark.
Reflection on light:
Bring light into your life. With this light, you will not only brighten your own life but those around you who wish to benefit from the light you are emanating. Then, the light will also influence others to be happier, better people.
Be the fire of love, of faith, of the desire to help, and do things for others for nothing in return. If you do all this, your life will be full of light, distanced from darkness. Do not say: I have no strength or the situation is too difficult. All you need is a little bit of light to bring about a change!
