DAY 3 OF 3

Have Mercy

Ever wonder what the world would look like if we all showed mercy more toward one another?  Perhaps people would not be so defensive. Maybe people would not feel the need to explain past failures or mistakes.  Finally, maybe people wouldn't be so rigid.  This reality suggests that we would experience so much more love among one another without the fear of feeling uncovered.  Imagine that.  A community of people setting an example of covering others when they make mistakes, correcting in love and it being received in peace.

Although this sounds like a dream or an aspiration, it should definitely be a goal to strive towards.  Think of a time when you experienced being shown mercy in an area where you deserved what you had coming.  Or, you experienced mercy in specific areas where you just didn't know any better.  We all make mistakes, which is why we should be well-versed in not judging the next person.  More importantly, it's why we should be forgiving, because even as followers of Christ- we mess up...and we mess up really bad sometimes.  Our walk should definitely display the love of Christ and the benefits we gain as His children.  But it should also reflect transparency in the areas of our falls, slip ups and total flunks.  Willingness of openness and honesty in this area unlocks the power of our testimonies.  So, when you find yourself stuck at the intersection of condemnation and judgment, take a detour to the mercy route.  There are lives attached to your journey, waiting to hear your story.

Affirmation: I make it my mission to be forgiving and merciful.

About this Plan

Level Up!

Love your enemies. Be good to everyone. Have mercy. What exactly does that look like? It's more than biting your tongue and holding your peace. Or, refraining from responding to a hateful deed. It's more than not going out of your way to expose a person after receiving VIP access to a shameful fact about them. This call to action requires us to examine the 'love' department in our lives.
