Suddenly Unemployed – Take It to the Lord in Prayer

DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5: Pray for Daily Pardon

“ . . . and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

Here we pray for God’s pardon. Again, we cannot thank Him enough for removing our sin as far as the east is from the west by the blood of Christ Jesus (Psalm 103:12).

We must also take seriously Jesus’ addition that we need to forgive as He does—forgive as we have been forgiven. Indeed, He forgives and keeps on forgiving: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Again, as you seek to lean hard into Him, especially in the stress and scariness of job loss, ensure that there are no barriers in your relationship with God—and lack of forgiveness is a huge one!

Prayer Prompts:

  • As you examine your own heart, where do you need the Lord’s forgiveness?
  • Who in your world needs your forgiveness (e.g., someone from your workplace)?
  • Tell God how grateful you are for His forgiveness—how He has literally cleansed your soul and made you whole!

About this Plan

Suddenly Unemployed – Take It to the Lord in Prayer

Job loss is stressful and scary. You question your security and significance. “How will I pay the bills, get health care, find a new job? Do I still have what it takes? Where is God in all this?” Be encouraged. He still has “good works” for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). Let Jesus guide you through the Lord’s Prayer on your way to getting back on your feet again!
