STATIONS OF THE CROSS - EASTER PLAN

DAY 14 OF 14

JESUS IS LAID IN THE TOMB

After Pilate learned from the centurion that Jesus was dead, he gave the body to Joseph of Arimathea, who wrapped Jesus' body in a linen shroud and placed it in a tomb. A massive stone was rolled across the entrance. Guards were stationed by the tomb to make sure no one would steal Jesus' body and claim that he had risen from the dead.

Why was it necessary for Jesus to die and be buried? The burial of Jesus is significant because it validates his death. The Romans wouldn't have allowed Jesus to be taken down from the cross unless they knew he was dead. That's why they pierced His side with a sword to make sure.

The fact that Jesus was buried adds to the essential Christian message. It prepares the way for the affirmation of the resurrection. Paul states this in the New Testament. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and raised on the third day, and He appeared to Peter and then to the Twelve.

Jesus died for your sins so that you may live!

We hope that this plan has given you inspiration, hope, and joy as you prepare for the Holy Week of Easter. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
