DAY 1 OF 5

 THE SAME JESUS

“This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11 NIV

We are held in the hands of the One who ‘was, and is, and is to come’ – He is the same Jesus - yesterday, today and forever. This is one of the most re-assuring truths we could ever hear – for we live in a world where the only constant seems to be the change all around us. Kingdoms rise and then fall, fashions flourish and then fail, brands shine and then inevitably fade. But there is a name that will go on forever - never to disappear and never to decay. He is Jesus - the King eternal, immortal, unchangeable. His love never fails. His word never fades. His kingdom marches on for eternity.

Wherever we intersect history, we find the same Jesus. The One who stood at the dawn of creation and spoke this whole world into being is the very same Jesus who then walked upon this earth - bringing grace and truth wherever He went. The same Jesus who endured the cross, who conquered the grave, and who now sits at the right hand of the Father. And this same Jesus, who was taken into heaven, will return again one day in glory.

It is not only in the timeline of history that we find Him to be so very constant and consistent - but in the timeline of our own lives too. In our brightest moments or in our darkest valleys, He is the same Jesus. In a season of fierce faith, or a time of questioning and doubting, He remains faithfully the same. Even if we are faithless He still remains faithful – for in Him there is no shadow of turning and He can never deny Himself. On a wedding day or a day of grief, a time of triumph or a time of turbulence, a feast or a fast - there He stands, just as steadfast, dependable and unchangeable as He ever was. He is the God who is everything He says He is, who lives up to His names and keeps all of His promises. No false claims, no ‘off-days’, no missing the mark. No empty boasts, no failing to deliver, no ‘not quite Himself today’ moments. He was, He is, and evermore He shall be the same Jesus
