Pray and Feast for 21 Days

DAY 5 OF 21

Passover Part 3 // A Step Of Faith

The Old Testament story of the Passover not only shows us God’s faithfulness but also highlights a step of faith made by the Israelites. God instructs the Israelites that if they paint the blood of the Lamb on their doorposts, then He will show them mercy (Exodus 12:7). This requires obedience and a step of faith. A cynical person might simply have thought: “How could painting blood on my doorposts award me God’s mercy?” Indeed, it is a bizarre action in almost every way. However, the Bible tells us that the Israelites took this step of faith and were obedient to God’s instructions.

Similarly, the New Covenant requires a step of faith. Jesus states boldly “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.” (John 6:53, NLT) Just as the Israelites needed to paint the blood of the Lamb on their doorposts, we are to ‘paint’ the blood of Jesus over the ‘doorposts’ of our lives. What does this mean? Simply that we too need to take a step of faith and ask Jesus to come and redeem every part of our lives and make it new.

As we come into this new year, can I encourage you to come into agreement, in faith with every declared word said over our church and your lives? There is power in our combined, united faith!

Prayer:

Jesus, I ask that You come and redeem every part of my life and make it new. Just as the Israelites painted the blood over the doorway of their household, I ask that You would come and bless my household, my friends and my family. I pray for a new level of faith in my life and a new level of obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
