Everyday Discipling

DAY 4 OF 5

4. Personal Ministry. To be a disciple who makes disciples, we then move beyond personal attentiveness to personal ministry—helping those around us to become disciples of Jesus as well.

It’s important to ask ourselves, “Why disciple?” In a nutshell, we are commanded to do so! Jesus’ last words before His ascension are found in each of the four Gospels and the book of Acts: see Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-18; Luke 24:44-49; John 20:19-23; Acts 1:6-11. These words reflect Jesus’ heart—He has given us a mission, the Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations!

Looking at those around you, notice that some are in what might be called the “reaching stage” and need to know Jesus; others are in the “follow-up/discipling stage” and need to grow in Christ; others are in the equipping stage and need to know how to “go and make disciples” as well. Identify the stage and find a resource to meet their present need!

“Heavenly Father, I want to be used of You in the lives of those around me. Help me to be obedient to Jesus’ words and make disciples of those around me! As I develop relationships with them, give me eyes to see where they’re at in their relationship with You. Please help me to know how I can best help meet them at their point of need—be it to know Jesus, grow in their walk with Christ, or be equipped to go and make disciples themselves.”

About this Plan

Everyday Discipling

Do you want to go deeper with God in your own personal relationship with Him, while also being used of Him to help others do the same? You can! Every Christ-follower can “be a disciple who makes disciples” by following five biblically rooted priorities of everyday disciple making—affecting lives for all eternity . . . doing so one conversation, one relationship at a time.
