Grand Plans - Small Steps

DAY 2 OF 7

If God is your partner …

The famous American evangelist D.L. Moody once said:

“If God is your partner, make your plans big!”

Some people have a mistaken idea that God is pleased if we keep our lives small; as if somehow God is intimidated or infuriated by big dreams. This couldn’t be further from the truth! The Bible teaches that it’s God Himself, by the Holy Spirit, who causes us to dream dreams and see visions (Joel 2:28).

The repeated example of the Bible is that trusting God causes our destiny to reach far beyond our natural limitations.

David was an inconsequential shepherd boy, yet God made him to be one of the greatest kings in Israel’s history.

Peter was a small-business operator in Galilee, yet Jesus called him to lead the Church and spread the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth!

Gideon was hiding out in a winepress, threshing wheat and just trying to make a living, yet God called him to overthrow Israel’s enemies.

Moses was looking after sheep in the back of a desert, yet God called him to be a liberator and nation builder.

Maybe a negative religious experience or wrong thinking about God has made you assume God’s wants to limit your horizons and curb your potential.

Can you see the trend in the lives of David, Peter, Gideon and Moses? God is not the One who puts a limit on our future, He is the One who can use our lives in ways beyond anything we’ve dreamed possible. His exceedingly great power is toward you today!

Jesus actively encouraged us to enlarge our thinking, make big plans and exercise our faith. He taught us that God deals with us ‘according to our faith’. So, go ahead and ask the Holy Spirit to inspire your heart to dream dreams and see visions for the future!
