Love God Greatly: Draw Near

DAY 29 OF 40

David’s question has an obvious answer. These verses also follow an exhortation to both treasure and follow the commands of God so that we will not be left without hope. It is not impossible for us to figure out where we have made mistakes, but in order to do so we need light. God’s word can bring to light hidden faults and can warn us of what displeases God so we can confess and avoid these offenses.

It is believed that David wrote Psalm 19 near the end of his life. He was a man acquainted with his own sin and depravity. Despite his wandering heart and blunderings with Bathsheba, Uriah, and his military census, God called David a man after His own heart. A person after God's heart is not a perfect person but a person who sees their sin for what it is and repents of it.

Lord, thank You for Your Word, which can keep us on the right path. Help us to live in the light of Your Word, and in the accountability of Christian community. When we sin help us to be quick to confess and repent so that our lives can be a testament to Your faithfulness. Amen.
