Fasting From Sugar, Feasting On God's Wordಮಾದರಿ
Day Six
Feed My Sheep
Scripture: John 21:17
What is God asking you to do as you decrease sugar and overeating in your life? Is He calling you to take the money you are saving for that daily latte and weekly pint of ice cream and give it to a ministry caring for the homeless people in your town? Is He calling you to support a missions organization that is digging wells for those in need of fresh water? Ask Him to show you who needs your heart and your help, your friendship and your funds.
When you are focused on loving the world and meeting its needs, God fills you up with His love and amazing power. So if you want to experience the miracle of a love relationship with God in your daily life, join Him in His loving care for others. Each time you’re tempted to overfeed yourself, stop and pray, God, whom would You have me feed today? I don’t need more.
God couldn’t be clearer about His desire: I love you; you love others. Jesus had to restate this idea to His headstrong disciple Peter three times in a row. After Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love me?” for the third time, Peter was hurt. He replied, “You know that I love you.” Jesus’s reply was simple. “Feed my sheep” (John 21:17, esv).
God is alive and well and working throughout the world. Join Him by feeding His sheep! You can share the Good News with others by sharing your love and resources. Love whom He loves, feed His sheep, and tend to His lambs and, in turn, He will feed you all that you’ve been hungering for and more.
Many of us overeat because we’re bored with our self-focused lives. Let’s choose instead to turn our attention to those who are physically hungry, and let that grow in us a spiritual hunger like nothing we’ve ever known before!
Dear wonder-working Savior, I do love You. Help me to take my eyes off myself and put them on those who are hungry and in need throughout the world, throughout my city, and in my close circle of friends and family. Holy Spirit, inspire me and show me who I am to love today. Show me how to love as I fast and pray for the benefit of others. In Jesus’s loving name, Amen.

About this Plan
Does sugar hold you back from the good life that God has planned for you? Sugar imprisons us because it weakens our physical bodies and clouds our minds. Yet God has the power to set us free. This week we’ll be exploring seven Scripture passages that show us how to receive God’s powerful presence in our lives as we let go of sugar’s trappings.
