Signposts To Christ From Isaiahಮಾದರಿ
Isaiah the prophet ministered approximately 800 years before Christ. During a major political challenge, Isaiah offered King Ahaz a sign to say that God was in control of his situation. An unnamed young woman from the king’s court would give birth to a son with a significant name. That child would be a visible reminder that God was with them.
Recalling the birth of Jesus, the writers of the New Testament looked back to these words of Isaiah and saw a connection (see Matthew 1:23). The birth of Jesus proclaimed to the whole world that God came to earth and became one of us. Jesus took on human form, born a son, to be with humanity and to save all of humanity. This message is still central for us today: God is with us.

About this Plan
Throughout the Old Testament we can see signposts that point us to Jesus Christ. The book of Isaiah offers numerous such signposts. Reading Isaiah through the eyes of the New Testament can give us new insights into the life of Jesus, and also to the life of discipleship to which we are called.
