The Lie Of "Not Enough"ಮಾದರಿ
4) When MORE is less and LESS is more.
I was just speaking at a lady’s event called “Encouragement by Chocolate”. Yes! What an ingenious name. The topic was “When More is Less”. There is a truth that the Lord equips us with what we need for our journey. But often we decide, so to speak, to place more in our “backpack” than He calls us to carry. He never asked us to handle all the cares of the world or all the cares of our family on our shoulders. He never invited our control freak to grip our people or our plans. May I remind you that He actually teaches that many are the “PLANS” in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Why in the world are we set out to load our lives, our backpacks, with more than He planned for us to carry? This seems like a maneuver in insanity! Why would we do such a thing? Do we feel like this would make us more important? This is an illusion. This yoke is too heavy. I have learned that “MORE” often leads to much “LESS”.
The load of “MORE” is a weight I no longer choose to carry. I just can’t. My sanity depends on wisdom in this area. My family’s health and well-being teeters on my decisions not to take on more than I am assigned. So today I want to challenge you to consider that He equips you with all you NEED to live out the life that He has called you to. You have unique giftings to use to bless others. We are not to carry the load of more than we are called to. Consider and be very selective in your “YESes”. Do many of them need to become “NOs”? Pray for wisdom in each choice. Remember that each YES is a NO to other things.
Don’t let the stress of the YES bring about too much of an unintended load. He does lead, guide and direct our steps as we yield to His ways. What do you need to unload from your backpack? Let go and live in the freedom of LESS.
Questions to ponder:
· How do we feel the stress of too great a load? Overwhelmed?
· Are your choices prayerfully considered before making them?
· Are you trying to impress others or “be ye holy as I am holy?”
Life-giving Prayer:
Lord forgive me for packing too much into the journey of my life. The load is too heavy, and I have no one to blame. Help me take on Your yolk and have the wisdom to make wiser choices. Help me navigate better “yeses” and have the courage to say “no” when needed. I need to walk in your peace.
