Peace On Purpose
The Christian life is not promised to be free of trials and tribulations and it is very misleading to think otherwise. Nevertheless, the Christian should seek peace and choose peace, regardless of the mishaps and struggles life presents.
The story of the Hebrew boys in the fire (Daniel 3) and Paul preaching the good news while in chains is evidence that troubles will befall us at some point in life. Even Jesus was not spared suffering while here on earth. Still, as a graceful Christian, we must choose to embrace peace even in stressful and challenging situations of life.
The overwhelming peace of God has a great way of quieting the heart and making one sensitive to the joy that peace brings in the midst of chaos while going through difficult moments in life. A peaceful Christian is a believer who is set apart from the troubles of life. He/she will experience them and not be moved by them. He/she will choose to live kingdom principles and characteristics while going through hard times, remembering that the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (John: 14:17).
Are you that person?
Peace is an element of the fruit of the Spirit, meaning the Spirit of God grows it in our hearts. Such peace is evident in our life and in the way we respond to crisis. The concept of peace on purpose is choosing to key into Jesus, the Prince of Peace whose character is evident in the fruit of the Spirit regardless of the storm (I mean Jesus was sleeping 😴 while the storm was raging - right?). Besides, there's no point worrying over what you cannot control. Might as well stay peaceful and hand it over to God.
Jesus already secured our peace here on earth (He says: My peace I give to you, Rom 14:27) but since the devil comes to steal, to kill, and destroy, it may seem as if we are constantly battling for that peace. By the grace of God we can step out of the chaos and into the supernatural peace of God when we are intentional about being at peace, in spite of our circumstances.
We have the power to live in peace, to be at peace, and to have a peaceful state of mind. Peace on purpose is intentional.
Meditation:
What troubles or challenges are you facing now?
There is a solution, a word, instruction, and even direction in the word of God. More than that, Jesus has promised that He will never leave or forsake us. He appeared as the fourth man in the fire with the Hebrew boys, and to Paul when he was a raging mess (Saul). He brought peace to them in the midst of their chaos. Trust Him.
Whatever troubles you are going through, your response should always be peace. Choosing peace on purpose will help you to respond in a godly manner to every troubled situation you face.
Choose peace.
