Enduring: Promises For Every Seasonಮಾದರಿ
YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER
A few days ago at work, one of my co-workers, a Youth Pastor, was telling my boss that “Crocs with socks are in” because middle schoolers were wearing them. Now, normally I would trust him because he’s one of the hippest people that I know but I couldn’t let this go.
I was quick with a snarky remark (per usual): “Umm, let’s not just assume that because MIDDLE SCHOOLERS are doing it that it’s cool. I think that history would prove that assumption incorrect.”
Here’s the thing: for, like, one whole week, every 10 years, wearing Crocs with socks is the cool thing to do. But, who can keep up?
What is cool and popular changes every few days; what is healthy or good for you differs from one study to the next. Our world is changing so fast and we’re all just trying to keep up. I think that you’d agree with me that it is EXHAUSTING.
When everything changes all the time, it seems impossible to stay grounded. When it feels like the rug could be pulled from under your feet at any minute, it’s easy to lose joy in the present and hope for the future.
BUT JESUS.
He is the same yesterday and today and forever. His character never changes, His goodness never fades, His grace never runs dry, His words never lose meaning. His power over sin and death and shame endures and overcomes all things. With that truth in mind, it gives us sure footing on which to stand and the strength of spirit to endure.

About this Plan
Psalm 119:89-90 reminds us that the Word of the Lord is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. God’s faithfulness continues through all time; it endures. When we’re looking for sure footing in the shaking and answers in the questions, we can turn to His enduring faithfulness, His enduring Word.
