Easter - Victory Over Death

DAY 5 OF 5

You can be free from all slavery

Every year, grocery stores remind us that it’s Easter time with their whole aisles filled with chocolates of all kinds...which raises an important question. Is Easter a celebration of chocolate? Obviously, the answer is no.

Easter reminds us, of course, that Jesus died and rose again, that He conquered death and all its power! Easter, or Resurrection Day, is the heart of the Gospel message: “It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen”! (Romans 8:34)

The first Easter, Passover, is mentioned in the Old Testament in Deuteronomy 16:1 and 3: “Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. [...] that you may remember the day in which you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.”

So the first Passover commemorated the day the God of Israel freed His people from slavery. God’s people left Egypt. At last! Deliverance...after 400 years of enslavement!

In the same way, Jesus’s death and resurrection sets us free from the power and weight of our sin! His sacrifice allows us to “leave Egypt,” the land of slavery. It is deliverance for all those who have become children of God! It’s a victory to celebrate during this Easter season for you, too!

Easter isn’t about celebrating chocolate...it’s about celebrating God’s victory and your deliverance and redemption through the blood of His Son, Jesus! Let’s share this celebration and joy with our friends and families today!!
