DAY 2 OF 4

Having God’s armor is one thing. Wearing it is another. Putting it on the way a person puts on physical armor requires care and thought. When the enemy has come at you and he has hit you in every single direction, the number one strategy a believer can employ is to pray.

You’re encouraged by the apostle Paul to not make prayer an addendum or an afterthought. You are to make it associated with every aspect of conflict taking place in your life. Whether it’s a personal or family conflict, a financial struggle, or however you are being attacked, you might feel like you’re not going to make it. That’s an invitation to put on the armor of God.

You’ve got six pieces of armor and you want to wear them because the enemy can attack you both physically and circumstantially. What he can’t do is defeat you spiritually, unless you let him.

So, when Paul tells us to pray without ceasing, he is simply saying, “Bring God to bear in everything.” Don’t have this secular/sacred divide. Make everything sacred, because when God knows He’s a part of everything, He is involved in everything, particularly when our adversary the devil is coming against us.

Those six pieces of armor are put on in prayer. You pray in truth. You don the breastplate of righteousness with prayer. You’re thinking in prayer because sometimes you can’t even say it. Finally, you’re wielding a sword as you pray through Scripture. When you pray in this manner, you’re giving the devil more than he can handle. Put on the armor and watch it repel the evil one.
