In The World But Not Of The Worldಮಾದರಿ
Now vs Forever
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. - I Cor 15:19
Our work invariably forces us to focus on the here and now. Today’s project, tomorrow’s deadline, next week’s deal, next quarter’s results, next year’s bonus. Rarely do we look beyond that. This is a trap. A performance-driven culture limits our perspective of time. But we have to think not only about next year, but about our next life with God.
It is okay to pray for our workplace problems. But it is not okay to be praying ONLY for our workplace problems. Our workplace problems belong to the here and now. God may solve them or they may remain unsolved and cause us enormous pain and angst. It doesn’t matter because they cannot follow us to where we are going.
This world is temporary. The next world is eternal. Version 1.0 of the fallen planet earth is imperfect. Version 2.0, which will be established when Christ comes again, will be perfect. No more sin, sickness, shame, pain… no more workplace problems. God will make His dwelling among men, we shall see Him face to face and we will reign with Christ forever and ever. Work will be restored to its pre-fall glory. The new earth and the new heaven, described in Rev 21 and 22, is our final destination − our eternal destination.
If we limit our faith in Christ to issues pertaining only to this boss, this job, this company or anything pertaining to this world, we are to be pitied than most men. Remember, we are called to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. Let us run the race with eternity in view!
Father God, help me to work in the here and now, with eternity on my mind. Amen

About this Plan
For a person’s faith to be credited as righteousness, it is imperative to work within the divine paradigm. We are called to work not just to earn our living, but with a quest to excel for eternal purposes. Our work must flow out of Christ’s love, joy and gratitude. There is no striving in it because, in Christ, we are at rest even when we are at work.
