DAY 23 OF 30

Have you ever been through a “dark season” in life.

I’ve endured my fair share of dark times and faced situations when I found myself wondering if I could ever survive the pressure weighing down on me. I imagine you’ve had “dark” times like this too.

The bad news is that you will face dark times again … but the good news is you have everything you need to get through these times with deeper faith than ever!

Have you ever considered how a seed grows? First, it needs to be buried in the ground where it’s cold and dark. It then needs to have soil placed on top of it so that the pressure of the earth presses down on it. But it's only when the seed is in the dark and under pressure that new life can come out of it, and it fulfills its potential as it grows toward the light. As author and speaker Christine Caine says; “Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you’ve been buried, but actually you’ve been planted.”

As you look back on the “dark seasons” in your past, I bet you can see in hindsight that these were times of personal growth for you, right? That’s because God uses the tough times of life to stretch us, and to draw new life out of us … so we can reach our full potential.

If you’re facing a dark season today, I pray that new life will come out of whatever darkness you’re facing.

For reflection:

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. — John 1:5
