DAY 11 OF 30

I am really interested in Hebrew words (I have a YouVersion reading plan called 7 Words Every Christian Should Know ... you should check it out). There's a number of reasons why ... and today, I wanted to share one of them.

One of Israel's ancient prophets named Malachi once foretold that “… the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.” Sun of Righteousness was one of the names Jewish believers gave to the coming Messiah, and Malachi was referring to the coming King's ability to heal with the corners of his robe.  You see, the word “wings” in Hebrew is “kanafim” which means “wings”—but also means “corners”, as in the corners of a garment.

While most Christians miss the significance of this, there’s a story in the Gospels about a woman who didn’t. When Jesus went to her small town, this woman, who had been bleeding for more than 12 years, understood from Malachi that if she could just touch the “kanafim” of Jesus' robe she would be healed. And she was! All this from the Hebrew word for wings!

For most reading these words, this may just be an interesting insight. But I believe there is someone reading this today who needs to be like the woman in this story—to believe that Jesus can heal you today.

For reflection:
