A spark has the potential to create some of the most horrendous fires that we have ever witnessed. It is not to be under-estimated by size, but more importantly, by abilities. Sparks can travel. They are created or formed from resistance, rubbing, brushing, and/or direct contact- also known as friction. Ultimately, you know where sparks have occurred because they always leave residue behind.
In reference to humans, sparks share similar qualities. We have the power to stimulate or awaken giants in people. We can literally move someone else to change the course of their life. Whether it’s due to a motivational message, positive attitude, or a negative experience, these motivating factors can ignite someone on the inside and spark a change.
The measure of the person doesn’t matter. No person is too small or great either. The main component comes from a source greater than us: God. He placed a little bit of combustion (fire) in each and every one of us, so it comes naturally. How we choose to use it or allow it to impact us is solely up to us. Isaiah 1:31 says, “Just as straw is set on fire by a spark, so powerful people will be destroyed by their own evil deeds, and no one will be able to stop their destruction.” This powerful scripture illuminates just what a spark is capable of. Straw is vast, is usually gathered together and it would take forever to count each piece one by one. But a spark could cause a blaze that would scorch the entirety of its existence. What is left of it is known as ash, or in other words, residue that a spark was once there.
Do not be deceived and think that sparks die quickly. They can actually live on energy. Proverbs 26:21 says, “Charcoal keeps the embers glowing, wood keeps the fire burning and troublemakers keep arguments alive.” Charcoal is the source of energy in this depiction. Sparks transmit to the charcoal, forming embers, which become their source of energy to continue on. This is why it is so important to guard your spark. Do not let it feed on bad energy, like negativity or anything that would pose as a threat. If you find yourself around negativity, convert it into good energy which will be feasible for the spark to thrive on. The sole purpose of this concept is to acknowledge the power of your spark and to urge you to use it responsibly.
Action: Think before you act, speak and partake because the wrong decision could cause your flame to bring harm to yourself and others.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for this dynamic message about a spark and its capabilities. Please help me to use good judgment in how I am to treat myself and others. I pray that we share hope and positivity with one another; more importantly, that we would operate with caution in our interactions. This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Affirmation: I understand the power of a spark and my awareness has caused me to be more responsible with mine.
