God is Faithful
Don’t you love those words? Precious promises. Peter loved talking about the precious things of God. In his two letters he talked about precious faith, precious promises, the precious blood, the precious stones, the precious rock, the precious Savior. He is declaring that there is a preciousness of God.
We are to stand on the precious promises of God. We have equal faith between us all. We have the tool and the resource that is Jesus Christ. To live out our lives, we fall back and we stand on the precious promises of God.
Do you know that God has never failed one single promise and that He is not going to start with you? Do you ever feel like that’s hard to believe? “Lord, I know You have been faithful to everybody in human history, but I am just wondering: Are You going to be faithful to me?”
God has not broken a promise and He is not going to break a promise, because then His perfect faithfulness would be at risk. How much do promises mean in our culture today? Zilch. Zero. Nothing. Promises are broken all the time. But Jesus is saying, “I’ll never break my promise. I have great and precious promises and your life can fall and I’ll catch you on these promises that I am here with you, I live inside you, I am going to love you, I am going to guide you, I am going to take care of you, I am going to provide for you.”
This is the truth of God. Live by the promises of God and stand strong on the promises of who He is. Our promises in today’s world may mean nothing, but the promises of God mean everything. God is not like someone that has broken promises to you. Your Father in heaven is not like your father on earth. Your Father in heaven is not like your boss on earth. Your Father in heaven keeps His promises.
He has said that no one can snatch you from His hand. (John 10:27-28)
Stand on the promises of God. His promises will take you through your darkest time, your best time, and the times in between. His promises are still strong in every situation. Jesus is strong enough to take you through any place you need.
