Intentional Living

DAY 7 OF 7

If you’ve come this far, it’s safe to assume that the premise of this devotional—living a life of purpose on purpose—resonates with you.

You understand that for your life to make a difference in the world, it must be led, not just lived, and it requires valuing and adding value to like-valued people who will help you on your journey.

As you’ve read through each day, you’ve come away with insights and tips for how lead an intentional life, and maybe you’re excited to see what’s next.

Hold on just a second. There’s one last piece to the puzzle.

Fortunately, it’s the easiest piece.

And it’s also the hardest.

Ready?

Here it is:

Intentional living requires intentional growth.

As you seek to lead a life of significance, you will have to grow in order to accommodate it. You’ll need to stretch your thinking, change your habits, manage your priorities, re-frame your thinking, and develop new relationships, even as you let go of old ones.

The good news is this need for growth will feel natural to you.

The challenging news is that the process and price of growth increases the more you chase significance. There will come a time when you are tempted to say, “Enough’s enough. I’m good with where I am.”

When you reach that point, don’t give into that temptation. Push through it. Remember that God often compares His people to trees or vines, which, when healthy, do one thing, all the time:

They grow.

Whether we’re talking about olive trees or grapevines, God reminds us to drive down roots in Him that allow us to grow as a person. That growth produces fruit, and that fruit becomes a gift to God and to the world.

Your life, your intentional, significant life, will bear fruit that blesses others and brings glory to God only if you continue to grow daily.

So feed your mind. Feed your soul. Challenge yourself. Get stronger. Get sharper.

Figure out where you’ve reached your capacity, and then realize you have more to give than you ever imagined.

And as you grow, that intentional life you seek--that difference you wish to make-- can and will be yours.
