From Beginning to End

DAY 55 OF 91

Three more plagues are described in this chapter: frogs, gnats and flies. During the plagues of frogs and flies, Pharaoh says he is willing to let the people go, but he does not keep his promise once the plague is over. With the flies, only the Egyptians are infested; the people of Israel are safe.

In the midst of a difficult time, Pharaoh says he is willing to obey God, but quickly returns to being stubborn afterwards. Jesus describes this kind of behavior in the parable of the sower in Luke 8. Some people hear what God says, but it doesn’t really take root in their lives, so it doesn’t have a lasting impact. We can all be that way sometimes. We hear a message in church or read a passage in the Bible and realize there is something we need to do or stop doing, but for some reason the change doesn’t happen. Today, follow through on a commitment you have made to God.

About this Plan

From Beginning to End

This is part one of a four-part plan to read the books of the Bible that tell of the historical events. Although the Bible contains many stories, it is one story from beginning to end of God’s interactions with humanity. One day per week can be used to catch up on missed readings or for reflection. Notes are also included to assist with understanding.
