God Will Fight for You
The Lord will fight for you, and you won’t have to do a thing (Exodus 14:14, CEV).
Moses said these words to the children of Israel just before the crossing of the Red Sea (See also Exodus 14:13). Here, Moses represents Jesus Christ, the children of Israel represent you and me, and the crossing of the Red Sea is a very powerful representation of salvation itself.
The Bible emphasizes that salvation can only be achieved when we are quiet and still, and when we let God do the work. Stillness is likely the most difficult attitude of faith to maintain, especially in today’s busy culture. It can be the hardest thing in the world when all of your instincts tell you to run or fight. Do you take time in your day to just be still and listen to God? What keeps you from these moments with God?
It’s like that with salvation. God does the work; not us. And trusting Him enough to let Him do His work can be the greatest battle we will ever face. It’s the battle of surrender and faith.
We do nothing for our salvation, but we have a lot to do with our salvation. The Bible refers to this as being “crucified with Christ.” That’s what the Cross teaches us (Romans 6:11).
Salvation is easy when you trust in Jesus. Believing in Him is the only work that God requires of us so that we might be saved (John 6:29).
Take a few moments now to be still and feel God’s presence in your life.
