DAY 2 OF 3

  Day #2 – God’s Word Is A Treasure

God’s Word is the “wisdom book” for us to study so that we may apply lessons learned to our personal lives.

It contains true stories of individuals who lived their lives for The Lord, those who overcame life challenges to keep on keeping on in their relationship with Him, and those who ultimately sacrificed their lives for Him.

There are also psalms for when we experience anger and depression and all kinds of other emotions, and proverbs (or wise sayings or quotes) to help us learn to develop wisdom and know how to apply it to our personal lives.

Verse To Read Aloud:

“My son, if you accept My words and store up My commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom…and if you look for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of The Lord and find the knowledge of God.” – Proverbs 2:1, 4-5 NIV

Questions To Consider:

What is wisdom?

Looking at life from God’s perspective and responding to situations the way He wants me to respond

What “treasures” are hidden in the Bible?

As we spend more time in God’s Word, we discover that there are stories of people who faced some of the circumstances we face today and we can learn from their successes and failures. We also see in every book, in every story, and in every page just how much God loves us and wants to enjoy a loving relationship with us every single day of our lives.

Questions For All To Share:

· If I offered you a $1,000 to spend 2 hours in God’s Word, would you accept the offer? Why or why not?

· What book or story would you read during this time or would you need more time to think about that?

· What are some things, in your opinion, that compete for our time and attention to God’s Word?

Final Challenge:

· What, if anything, are you willing to give up this week in order to spend some time in God’s Word?
