Fellowship
Fellowship is a Greek word that means “to have in common”. Have you noticed that many churches around the nation will have a room called The Fellowship Hall? When the church is meeting in the fellowship hall, what does that usually mean? Most of the time it means we will eat together but also that we will relate and connect with one another. Fellowship in the church is interacting with your brothers and sisters. As fun and enjoyable that can be, we also need to do fellowship within our communities. Our nation wants to divide and throw hate, but instead, we should say “let’s have in common.” Land cannot be the only thing we have in common. We can share values, appreciation, and love for one another. Fellowship with action is showing we care for one another. Examples would be to give, encourage, or pray for others. That is fellowship with action.
This is the foundation the Apostle John was laying down when he said, “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His son, Jesus Christ.”
Fellowship means to have in common, but before Christ, we truly had nothing in common with God. God is eternal. We have a birthdate and death date. God is all-knowing. We use and need Google every day. God never tires or sleeps. We need Starbucks! You get the point. We had nothing in common with God until Jesus came to earth. Jesus was a man and lived the life that you and I could not live. We needed Jesus to be man and die the death he died, shed the blood He bled, and rise from the grave so that we can accept Him in our hearts as our Savior and rise from death to heaven. We not only have eternal life now through Jesus Christ, but we can have fellowship with God. Jesus is the bridge that connects us from earth to heaven. But it’s deeper than that. Now we can connect with others from the heart because of the commonality we have with God. They will know us as believers through the love we spread. We will connect from the heart with others because of the fellowship we have with God. Having fellowship with God allows us to share the heart of what He is doing in us. Fellowship with God means having a heart in common with Him. There is no room for hate or bigotry. God’s heart lives through us which allows us to love others well.

About this Plan
Loving God first and foremost is the first step towards loving first. God equals love. He sent His son to die for us. The love God has for us does not compare to any other love you will experience. It’s a love that impacts and transforms. When we choose to love God first, we are capable of loving others even when it may seem hard to do so. God changes our hearts with love.
