How Jesus Prepared Disciples - Disciple Makers Series #11ಮಾದರಿ
Expect Persecution
This is a tough portion to read. Why would God allow His children to face this kind of treatment from other people? Why does God not protect us from the attacks of other people? It is a tough question. I do not know the answer. I just see God saying that if Jesus faced such attacks, why do you expect anything different?
God is willing to allow this so that people have a chance to hear the gospel. Somehow, we think that a demonstration of God’s power is more effective in changing people’s hearts than this demonstration of vulnerability. God says that it is not the case. A servant willing to suffer is a powerful testimony of the Gospel for many situations. We need to receive that truth.
Time to Pray
Father, this is not a part of following You that is easy. I know that You release Your power through us to demonstrate Your authority over the demonic realm. But here You ask us to demonstrate strength in the midst of suffering when we face people who oppose us. I need lots of patience, love, trust and faith in You in times like this. I know that in these circumstances, You promise to give joy and peace to us. I also need courage and strength way beyond what I have. So release all of these, I pray. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the 11th of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Jesus does not leave us unprepared as we release the Good News. He shows us how to release it and how to prepare for situations when we/the gospel are rejected.
