God is trustworthy because He is sovereign

God has no limits. He doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t get tired. He has all power and all authority. Scripture talks about how Jesus calmed a storm with just His voice. Only One who has authority and power can do that.

The idea of God’s sovereignty might feel complex, but it really means He has the ultimate power. There is no power over God. And since the most powerful being – the Creator, the Sustainer of all life, the One who formed everything and everyone – loves you and cares about you and knows you, then there’s actually no reason to not trust Him.

When you trust God is sovereign, you can have full assurance of God’s plan. There’s actually nothing to worry about because there’s nobody higher than God. Nobody greater. Nobody is more powerful. There’s no one else who can – like a man named Joseph said at the end of the book of Genesis – take what was meant for evil and turn it for good.

God’s sovereignty means you can relax. You can rest in God’s plans. You can be assured that God will bring goodness, even in the darkness.

Because God is sovereign, His way is different from ours. Sometimes the way He moves is not the way we want. But when you know God is trustworthy, when you trust Him and trust in the way He moves, you will someday realize that His way was always better.

Because God is sovereign, He is trustworthy.

Spend some time in prayer with Jesus, considering how He is sovereign – He has all power, all authority, and can take what is meant for harm and turn it into good. How can this draw you into deeper trust in Him?
