Hall of Faithគំរូ
“But for you, O LORD, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer” (Ps. 38:15).
What is the longest you have waited on the fulfillment of a promise? Many of us have been given a promise at some point in our lives. Although there is a joy that comes with a promise, the waiting period between receiving a promise and seeing its fulfillment can be exhausting and sometimes frustrating. Waiting on the Lord can be an incredibly testing season, sometimes requiring an abundance of faith. How do we find faith in the waiting? How can we trust the promises spoken over us when they aren’t coming to pass?
Consider Moses, a man who spent over forty years waiting on the fulfillment of a promise. Moses could certainly be considered a man of faith. Prior to leading God’s people out of Israel, Moses relied on great faith to trust that the Lord was working in the midst of Pharaoh's stubbornness. There were multiple moments where Moses relied solely on faith to supersede the magnitude of his situation. After the Israelites were freed from the oppression they faced in Egypt, they were soon faced with the Red Sea before them and Pharaoh's army behind them. It was here that a powerful faith rose up within Moses. He realized that God had not taken them out of Egypt to leave them now. Moses knew that the Lord would remain faithful and believed that He would continue to be with His people. The book of Hebrews states that “By faith, they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land” (Heb. 11:29). By faith; it was their faith that provided a way out.
We can imitate Moses by focusing on the promises spoken over us and centering our lives around them. Sometimes it can be challenging to have faith when we’re waiting for the Lord to move on behalf of our situation. At times, we may be outwardly professing our faith in Jesus, but struggling to possess that faith inwardly. Waiting on the Lord can be trying, but faith grows and matures in every waiting season.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, strengthen my faith when I grow weary in the waiting. Remind me of your faithfulness time and time again, renewing my capacity to trust you. Thank you that every one of your promises are yes and amen. I pray for a spirit of faith to rise up within me as I face moments of doubt. Thank you for your consistency throughout generations. Amen.
