Romans 6

6
Dead to Sin but Alive in Christ
1What shall we say then? # Ro 3:5; 6:15; 7:7; 9:14, 30 Shall we continue in sin that grace may increase? 2God forbid! # Ro 3:4, 6, 11; 6:15; 7:7, 13; 9:14; 11:1, 11 How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? # Col 3:3; 1Pe 2:24 3Do you not know that we who were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? # Mt 28:19; 1Co 12:13; Gal 3:27 4Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. # Ro 7:6; 2Co 5:17
5For if we have been united with Him in the likeness of His death, so shall we also be united with Him in the likeness of His resurrection, # 2Co 4:10; Php 3:10–11 6knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him, # Gal 2:20; Eph 4:22 so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we should no longer be slaves to sin. 7For the one who has died is freed from sin. # 1Pe 4:1
8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, # 2Co 13:4 9knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death has no further dominion over Him. # Ro 5:14; Rev 1:18 10For the death He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life He lives, He lives to God.
11Likewise, you also consider yourselves to be dead to sin, # Ro 6:2 but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. # Ro 6:13 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, # Ps 19:13 that you should obey it in its lusts. # Ro 6:16 13Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, # Ro 7:5 but yield yourselves to God, as those who are alive from the dead, and your bodies to God as instruments of righteousness. # Ro 12:1 14For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace. # Ro 8:2
Slaves of Righteousness
15What then? # Ro 3:3, 9; 4:1; 6:1–2; 8:31; 11:7 Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? God forbid! # Ro 3:4, 6, 31; 6:2; 7:7, 13; 9:14; 11:1, 11 16Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, # Jn 8:34; 2Pe 2:19 or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17But thanks be to God, # Ro 1:8 for you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were entrusted, # 2Ti 1:13 18and having been freed from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness. # Jn 8:32; Ro 6:22; 8:2
19I speak in human terms # Ro 3:5; Gal 3:15 because of the weakness of your flesh, for just as you have yielded your members as slaves to impurity and iniquity leading to more iniquity, even so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness unto holiness. # Ro 6:13 20For when you were the slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness. 21What fruit did you have then from the things of which you are now ashamed? The result of those things is death. # Ro 1:32; 6:23 22But now, having been freed from sin and having become slaves of God, # Ro 6:18; 1Pe 2:16 you have fruit unto holiness, and the end is eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, # Ge 2:17 but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. # Ro 2:7
