Reading the Bible // Section 2: The Power of the Word of God
The word of God is powerful – if you don’t allow it to mend you, it will, in the end, be the judgment that destroys you. It’s not a book to be taken lightly – it’s life and death. Spending time with God and worshipping Him helps us to be mendable instead of rebelling against God once confronted with our sin. After all, isn't that what we do when someone tells us we're wrong? We get bitter and become convinced that the other person is wrong and perhaps insane. But when we read God's Word, it is never wrong.
Being confronted with truth is tricky business because on the one hand is true freedom, but on the other hand, rejecting it will result in us rejecting the truth. Determine ahead of time to be mature enough to be willing to be changed by it instead of destroyed by it.
Practical Steps: Spend 15-20 minutes listening to worship music and asking God to keep you humble as you continue to read and understand His word throughout this devotional.
