Launch Out Into The Deep

DAY 3 OF 4

Little Faith – Big Catch

Once we get hold of the command of God, there will be no stopping the plans God has for us. Will it be easy? Oh heavens no, but that is the reason for the promise; in difficult times we can trust the One who made the promise to keep his word. After Peter had fished all night and caught nothing I am sure he was tired and frustrated, he was a professional fisherman, and Jesus was a carpenter. I think in Peter's mind he was more of an expert of the navigation of the Sea of Galilee than Jesus because he had probably worked those waters all his life. Don't we all feel like that sometimes? When we have given all our years to a career, a relationship, business, or a ministry and all we come up with in the end is disappointments and loss; we just don't want to try anymore. God's words sometimes fall into hearts that are so broken and disillusioned that we have to muster up every ounce of faith to try again. Peter experienced this same feeling, the same discouragement, and loss but after hearing Jesus teach, he mustered up whatever little faith he had and, Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." (Luke 5:5 NIV)

Peter acted on the word in obedience even though all his natural senses were saying otherwise and in this act of obedience and submission to God's word, Peter experienced a huge miracle. The story says the catch in the deep was so enormous their nets broke, and they had to call other fishermen to help with the haul, but the nets not only broke, but their boat sank – "When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink." (Luke 5: 6 – 7 NIV). What a miracle Peter experienced because of faith in the Promise Keeper! What if Peter just walked away and stood his ground he knew the waters and Jesus weren't qualified to give advice? Sometimes we don't want to take that step forward because of the failure, hurts, and disappointments are just too much, but I trust you will draw strength from Peter's story and muster up the little mustard seed faith and launch out into the deep. I pray that your haul will be tremendous and the miracle of your life will exude Jesus to the world around you.

About this Plan

Launch Out Into The Deep

When I think about the deep, the ocean immediately comes to mind- vast and beautiful yet with so many unknowns it challenges my ability to be in control, and that is a feeling that many of us don’t like. However, you were never created to play in the shallow. God has a massive plan for your life, and he wants to speak to you today to expand your view, to take the limits off, shatter the fear that has kept you back and trust him in this next phase of your life.
