Hope 4 Today: Staying Connected To God In A Distracted Culture

DAY 8 OF 8

Interpreters for Jesus

According to research, approximately 6,909 distinct languages exist in the world today. Interestingly, missionaries have done much of the work in finding and documenting these languages so the Bible can be translated.

There are also cultural languages spoken by people as close as next door. But we never engage with them because their language is so foreign. Urban slang is so common now that one online dictionary, which started as a joke, is now used in courts to interpret court cases. Christians have their own language as well. Words like fellowship, justification, and sanctification often aren’t understandable to the unchurched.

God is asking us to take the time to learn how to speak to those around us and be interpreters of His truth. That’s what Jesus did; He came to earth as an interpreter. He put on human skin so He could speak our language. And if God could do that for us, isn’t it time we break down the cultural language barriers around us so we can reach others for Him?

How can you start learning the language of the culture? Consider ways to learn the cultural language and build relationships with those around you so you can bring the awesome sauce of Jesus to them.
