Gifts From God: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
Gifts From the Spirit: Peace
“Peace, baby.” Yikes. What a mindless slogan. “Peace” may be one of the most overused and least experienced concepts in the English language. You can flash the “V” sign all day and still have your insides grinding with conflict.
Real peace is more than just silence, more even than just cessation of hostility. Real peace means that things are put right again, that truth and justice and goodness have prevailed. Real restoration of order and harmony are gifts from God. St. Paul wrote, “The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
God has declared you not guilty through the work of Christ. God has no anger or condemnation toward those who believe in Christ. God actually likes you. A lot. God intervenes each day for good in the lives of believers and will do even more when invited through prayer. God has guaranteed all believers a place in heaven. Don’t you feel better already? You know what? Everything really is going to be all right.
