Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
What Has God Done for Me?
He has intervened in human history for you
“Where are you, God?” Every thinking believer has whispered that desperate prayer at least once, and some have said it many times. A large part of our human dilemma is that God in judgment gave Adam and Eve and their descendants part of what they said they wanted--to be free from him. So he withdrew, at least visibly. People no longer heard his voice or “footsteps” in their gardens.
Until the birth of Christ, that is. An older priest named Zechariah was ecstatic that God himself was coming, in person, to rescue humanity from the ancient curses: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people” (Luke 1:68).
God himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, again walked the earth. People once again heard the voice of God, and the voice brought good news. You can trust a God who keeps his promises and who came in person to finish the job.
