Born For More

DAY 4 OF 7

How are we going to rise to the potential that God has put inside of us? How are we going to start living our best days yet?

We have to raise our thinking. We have to change our mindset. There’s a story about this little boy who was fishing, and he was right on the bank of this river. He was casting out his fishing line, and an older man was watching from afar.

All of the sudden, this little boy caught a huge bass over 12 inches long, and this older man runs over to him. He says, “That’s amazing. What a great catch!” Right as he’s saying this, the little boy unhooks the fish and throws it back into the river. The older man gasps saying, “What are you doing? You just caught a whopper. Why did you throw it back in?” The boy looked up at the man and said, “My frying pan is only 9 inches wide.”

This is the way a lot of us think. God is trying to give us God-sized opportunities, but our frying pan is only 9 inches. We don’t have the mental capacity to believe that He wants to open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that we don’t have room enough to contain. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” You serve an Ephesians 3:20 God, accomplishing exceedingly, abundantly, above anything you could hope, ask, dream, or imagine.

The Lord wants to bless us and the more we obey God, allowing Him to expand our thinking, the more He starts dropping opportunities that are beyond our capacity into our lives.

God says, “It’s time to come up higher. You were born for more. I’ve got more in store for your company, for your family, for your marriage, for your finances, for your ministry, for your dreams.”

Perhaps you’re saying, “But I don’t see it. I don’t see it.” I understand. It's hard to shake off the limits of our past, but, if you can choose to step out in faith, you will see big change happen in your life. “How do I do it?!” you ask. You start by raising your level of thinking. You have to dream bigger, speak out in faith for the things you want to come to fruition in your life. Call out your purpose!

In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.” Now, think about that in the mental capacity. The devil wants to steal your hope. He wants to kill your dream, and he wants to destroy your potential. How does he manage to do all that? He gets in your mind, whispering lies, “You’re unqualified. You’re not good enough. You screwed up last year. You made too many mistakes. You’ve ruined your marriage. You’ve ruined your chances of having a healthy future. You’re not going to get healed.” The enemy tries to kill your confidence and tries to kill your mental capacity to believe this is your time for miracles; this is your time for breakthrough. The same time that the devil is trying to kill your potential, Jesus is trying to breathe life into it. Jesus is reaching out to us, saying, “I’ve come to give you life and life more abundantly. Come on, trust me. Don’t let those negative thoughts build up in your mind.”
