DAY 3 OF 21

In the Room

How we conduct ourselves, at any given time, is largely shaped by who is in the room with us. I’ve known of men to utterly snap on their wives behind closed doors and then chalk their outburst up to "uncontrolled" anger issues. But when you ask these same men why they never talk to their bosses like that, it becomes painfully clear that they have more control than they think. You see, their wife's presence represents safety and inconsequence. Her opinion on his unacceptable behavior is something, if he were honest, he no longer respects. His boss, on the other hand—and even strangers—will seldom, if ever, witness his ugly side. But those he loves the most are well acquainted with it. This is all too common and all too backward. A husband’s value of his family's presence must exceed that of his value for the presence of any other person.

This same principle is often our challenge with the presence of God. We must remember that He is always in the room. The fact that God is hearing my conversations, watching my browsing online, and weighing my motivations, should make all the difference in my life. It’s not a mere boss I must give an account to; it is The Lord of the universe who is present. And He is not like Santa Claus just "making a list and checking it twice" categorizing and scrutinizing our every step as "naughty or nice." He is good, He is friendly, and He is gracious. But He is no fool. The Lord is not pleased with our devaluing and disrespecting His omnipresence. We must strive to live every moment as if God is in the room because He is. And that’s not a truth that should scare us into simply modifying our behavior; instead, we can embrace his safety and help by realizing we are never alone.

Prayer: Lord, let the reality of your presence shape my life today. May I live for your kingdom and in prayer before your throne. You are my Lord... Amen

About this Plan

KB - 100

Respected as an artist and as a lyricist, every word out of the mouth of rapper KB is God inspired. With his 2014 EP '100', the Reach Records emcee breaks down the idea behind always giving God 100% in everything. He says, "To do everything unto Him is to work like our lives are not ours but His. It's when we give "100" God is honored and this world impacted. That's what my new EP is all about."
