Joy In Serving: Devotions From Time Of Grace Ministry

DAY 1 OF 30

Introduction

“I wanted to be my own boss.”

That passion is behind the start-up of tens of thousands of businesses. And there is nothing wrong with that desire. Some truly great American companies have been started in basements and garages of “ordinary” people who had the itch to build a new organization and develop new products and services.

Actually, even if you lead your own business, you still have a boss. You must serve your customers and clients and make them happy, or your company will go out of business.

Serving other people is not a necessary evil or something to be endured until the day comes when you are finally rich enough to do absolutely whatever you want. Serving other people is a central attitude that God seeks to build in every last one of his children, rich and poor, high and low, both now and in eternity.

An attitude of joyful service is learned behavior. It does not come quickly and easily to sinful fools like you and me. I certainly need to “work on my serve.” To help you work on yours, I wrote this reading plan with a minute meditation for each day of your month.

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave” (Matthew 20:26,27). Jesus said that.
