Releasing His Presence

DAY 1 OF 5

Releasing His Presence - The Power of Presence

After watching the video, read and reflect upon Genesis 3:8-11 and Genesis 3:23,24.

Now lets recap the key points in the video presentation. As you read, think about how these realities apply to your personal life.

As a child when I woke in the middle of the night with a bad dream or was just scared I would go into my parents' room and crawl into bed with them. They didn't need to say anything. They didn't need to do anything except just be there. Their presence was comforting and reassuring.

That is the Power of Presence; being in the presence of somebody with authority and strength, that makes you feel safe and at peace. This was the vision of God for us. To dwell among us and we in His presence. That was His original plan. In Genesis 1 through 3 we see that the grand vision of God when He created the Garden of Eden was to simply come down and be with Adam and Eve.

Genesis 3:8-9 tells us that God took walks in the garden in the cool of the day. God wanted to hang out with us! Just think the presence of God in our daily lives - what a powerful and very comforting thing. However, the choice of Adam and Eve changed all of that. Their decision not to embrace the vision of God for his people caused them to be separated from God. God was now "above" watching over things but no longer among them, and that is just not the same thing.
