I've Got The Blues: Devotions From Time Of Grace Ministry

DAY 18 OF 33

GOD'S LOVING PROMISES: YOU'RE NOT ON YOUR OWN

A repeated human tragedy that always hurts my heart is to hear about a child who was abandoned by both parents. The kid later says, "I've been on my own since I was _______ (fill in the blank here with some terribly young age).

Satan seeks to destroy you spiritually, and so he lies to you. He wants you to fear that you've been abandoned by your God, that you're on your own in life, that God only watches from above but is not actually engaged in making anything happen for you personally.

This is rot. God does indeed watch over you personally and individually, all the time. But He also acts on your behalf, giving you the things you need and arranging things to make your life better. Read Psalm 121 for its intensely personal comfort: "The LORD watches over you. . . . [He] will neither slumber nor sleep. . . . The LORD will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life . . . both now and forevermore" (verses 4-5, 7-8).

You never walk alone.
