DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2 – Your "Why" Is Your Strength

"When you know why you're fighting, you find the strength to overcome any obstacle."

There are seasons in life when every step feels heavy, as if challenges multiply and the road ahead becomes steeper. In those moments, a question often arises: “Is it really worth it?” It’s an honest and valid question, but what truly matters is the answer. That answer fuels our perseverance. It’s our “why”—that inner force that pushes us to stand up when we’d rather stop. It’s not just a fleeting motivation; it’s a deep anchor, capable of holding you steady when everything around you seems to fall apart.

Having a clear “why” shifts your perspective. It’s not just about what you do, but why you do it. It becomes the vision that helps you see beyond present difficulties and recognize the significance of what you're building. Without a meaningful reason, challenges can crush you; but with one, even the how and when become more manageable. Your “why” transforms exhaustion into investment, suffering into purpose, and the race into a journey with clear direction.

For Stefania, that “why” had the face of her three children. When life stripped her of material and emotional certainties, she could have chosen the easier path: stop, give up, and let fear take over. Instead, she decided to act and not remain in that valley. She didn’t have a perfect plan or all the answers, but her “why” was strong enough to propel her forward. Her determination, however, wasn’t rooted solely in maternal love. There was something deeper: the faith that God was walking beside her. She knew her struggle wasn’t isolated but part of a bigger plan orchestrated by God, who promises strength to those who place their hope in Him (Isaiah 40:31).

Practical Tips to Strengthen Your "Why":

  • Write it down and see it daily: Place your “why” somewhere visible. Whether it’s a name, a dream, or a cause, let it remind you every day why you keep fighting.
  • Visualize the fruit of your efforts: When you feel discouraged, close your eyes and picture the future you're building. Who will benefit? How will your life look once you overcome this obstacle?
  • Find faith allies: Surround yourself with people who encourage you and realign you with your purpose. Having someone who prays with and for you can make all the difference during times of uncertainty.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for placing a purpose in my heart that goes beyond myself. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me why I started and who I’m fighting for. Turn my fear into strength and my exhaustion into determination. I want to be courageous and resilient, knowing that with You by my side, I can face any challenge. Give me eyes to see beyond my struggles and a heart that never stops believing. Amen.
