Mothers of the Bible

DAY 1 OF 30

Biblical Moms: Let’s Learn From Them

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” — Romans 15:4, NIV

Motherhood is one of life’s many paradoxes: It is beautiful, messy, exhausting and holy — all at the same time. Whether you’re rocking a newborn at 3 a.m., taking the training wheels off your 7-year-old’s bike or praying over your adult children who have their own home and family, being a mother is no small calling. It’s a journey filled with joy, sacrifice and — let’s be honest — a whole lot of moments where we wonder if we’re getting it right.

Thankfully, we don’t have to figure it all out on our own. The Bible is purposefully full of stories of mothers — women just like us, who faced uncertainty and brokenness but also experienced life-changing miracles and incomprehensible mercy. Some were celebrated, while others were overlooked. Some made great choices, and others made painful mistakes. Yet, through their lives, God revealed his faithfulness, grace and purpose. God met them in their circumstances and did the impossible.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll dive into the stories of these biblical moms — women like Eve, the first mother, who teaches us about the weight of our choices; Hannah, who shows us the power of surrendering our children to God; Jochebed, who reminds us of the courage required in motherhood; and Mary, whose faith inspires us to trust God’s plan even when we don’t fully understand it. Each of these women has something to teach us, and their testimonies still speak into our lives today.

This devotional series is designed to encourage, challenge and inspire you. God’s plan didn’t stop two thousand years ago: He has a delicately woven purpose for your life. And these stories aren’t just things we once heard in Sunday school: They are breathing and alive, ready to transform you — if you let them.

Challenge: Stay with it. Make time each day (even if it’s just five minutes) to reflect on these stories and seek God’s wisdom in your life. Let’s commit to growing together as we learn from the moms who came before us.

Are you ready? Let’s begin!
