Someone Else's World

DAY 5 OF 20

"Pray then like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.'" Matthew 6:9-10 ESV

God answered the disciples' desire to learn how to pray by having a simple yet complex conversation with our Heavenly Father.

Yes, we have to talk. Yes, we have to have intimate conversations with Our Lord. Remember, this prayer isn't an algorithm - it's a dialogue with you and your Heavenly Dad.

For most of us, the idea of "dad" is painful, lacking, and disappointing. I know this pain well as I spent many years of my life hating my earthly father (by the grace of God, my relationship with him was restored before he died). However, when we think about our Heavenly Father (God), we should not rely on our earthly experience - our world. We should rely on the Garden Kingdom - God's world.

So, what does God think about Fatherhood?

He takes Fatherhood seriously. He gives tremendous responsibility and expectations to earthly dads. Yet, He fills in the gaps of lack with compassion, tenderness, and protection. If we want an accurate picture of what the Heavenly Father looks like, we should rely on One Mind, Word, and Actions alone...

Christ's.

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. What thoughts come to mind when you think of a good father? Does your idea of good fatherhood align with God's design of fatherhood?

PRAYER PROMPT:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

About this Plan

Someone Else's World

What if we traded our little worlds for the Eternal Kingdom, now and to come? Walk with us, line by line, through the Lord's Prayer as we begin to release our grip on how we think we should live and embrace how Jesus wants us to live.
