The Mysteries of Praise

DAY 3 OF 7

Praise is Strength

Have life’s challenges left you too beaten down to fight? Like Gideon, you might feel afraid, overwhelmed, or even doubtful of God’s Calling on your life. When the Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, calling him a “mighty warrior,” Gideon’s response revealed the weight of his despair: “If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?” (Judges 6:13). Gideon doubted not only his own strength but even God’s Presence in his life.

Yet, God didn’t abandon Gideon in his fear. Instead, He reassured him, saying, “Go in the strength you have...Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14). God met Gideon where he was, doubts and all, and reminded him that the Source of his strength wasn’t his circumstances, but God’s Presence and Promise.

When Gideon finally led the Israelites into battle against the Midianites, he was still afraid. In fact, God had reduced his army from tens of thousands to just 300 men—hardly a force that could defeat an enemy described as numerous as locusts. But here’s the mystery of Praise: God didn’t need numbers or strength. He only needed obedience and faith. So, He led Gideon forth with trumpets and jars. Their Praise and obedience became the very tools God used to deliver them.

This story reminds us that Praise is an act of strength that declares faith in the One who fights for us. Like Gideon, we don’t need to have it all together to Praise. In our weakness and fear, Praise remains Powerful enough to bring victory. Therefore, we must trust that God’s Strength is made Perfect in our weakness.

Reflection

What areas of your life feel too overwhelming? Trust that as you Praise God, you will receive strength to face your battles.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for meeting me in my doubts and fears. Like Gideon, I often feel unworthy and unable to face life’s challenges. Help me to trust in Your Strength and let my Praise declare Your Power and Faithfulness in every battle I face. Amen.
