From Stuck to Unstoppable a 3 - Day Devotional by Wanda White

Retrain your thought process

Now that you’ve exhaled all of the worries and concerns, it’s time to keep them out. View your mind as the control panel of your body. When the mind is cluttered, you can’t focus and concentrate on things. You don’t operate at full capacity because your mind is occupied with things that don’t move you forward. You’re not sure if you should or if you shouldn’t. James 1:8 tells us that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. He is unstable and restless. You have to keep your mind decluttered and well-maintained to operate at its best capacity. This means you have to input the things that will edify it, like prayer, time alone with God, positive thoughts, and good habits, and keep out those things that are meant to destroy.

God has given you a template as you retrain your thought process. Phil 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” When doubt and fear try to rise, remember this verse and reframe your thoughts. Did you know you had the power to do that? Just because a thought pops into your mind does not mean you have to give it space, attention, or power. You can take every thought captive that was trying to capture you and replace it with the word of God.

Be aware of the thoughts that try to creep in. Take note and call them out. Dissect them and get to the real reason you keep having them, so they no longer have power over you, then replace them immediately. Don’t give them time to take root. I remember I used to have some very negative thoughts, and they would come regularly. I started taking notice of them and told myself the next time they came, I would intentionally think of something blue. Why blue? I don’t know, but it gave me something to focus on instead of the negative thoughts. And sure enough, when the thoughts came, I started looking for any and everything blue. I kept naming everything blue until the thought was gone. Now I’ve retrained that thought. You can’t come in, and you can’t stay. I’m changing you to blue.

Sometimes, it can be hard to notice anything praiseworthy when you are in a mental war. It seems like the harder you try, the harder the cement around you hardens. But you are not the negative thoughts. You are not the lies the enemy would have you believe. And when you feel like you are stuck in that rut, be intentional about getting out. Be intentional about prayer and meditation. Be intentional about breathing out the negative. Be intentional about what you allow your mind to dwell on. You belong to Christ. You are a new person, and now you have a new way of thinking. Focus on that.

The third step to becoming unstoppable is being aware of your thoughts. You’ll be freer when you do. Commit to daily meditation, breathing, and retraining your thoughts, and you’ll be unstoppable.
