It Is Christmas: The Journey of the Nativity

DAY 7 OF 10

Day 7: The Star – A Guide for Seekers
Reading: Matthew 2:1-2, 9-10

Imagine the serene darkness of a desert night. High above, a star shines with unusual brilliance, capturing the attention of wise men seeking answers beyond what their eyes could see. These men, Gentile scholars from distant lands, didn't deeply know Israel's history but recognized that something extraordinary was happening.

The star, sent by God, was more than a celestial phenomenon; it was a divine invitation. It not only guided the wise men to the Savior but also proclaimed a powerful message: the birth of Jesus was not just for the Jews but for all nations.

Reflecting on God's universal call, C.S. Lewis noted that our deepest desires are echoes of God's call to us. The journey of the wise men shows that God reveals Himself to all who sincerely seek Him, regardless of their origin, culture, or prior knowledge.

But the search wasn't easy. The journey was long and filled with challenges. Yet the star kept shining, encouraging them to keep moving forward. God often places "stars" in our lives to guide us—people, events, or circumstances that point us toward Him. As Tim Keller observes, God never leaves us without direction; His purpose guides us, even when we can't see the entire path ahead.

When the wise men finally reached Bethlehem and found Jesus, the joy they felt was indescribable. Every effort, every step of the journey was worth it. This reminds us that seeking Jesus is a journey requiring dedication but culminating in the greatest joy we can experience: finding Him.

Today, we are called to be seekers like the wise men, to follow the light God places on our path, and to trust that He will lead us to where we need to be.

Prayer:
"Lord, thank You for being the guide in my journey, even when I can't see the whole path. Help me to follow Your light with confidence and dedication, seeking You with all my heart. May my life be a response to Your invitation of grace. Amen."
