In the Beginning: How to Start the Year StrongSample
Day 2
John 1:1 (AMP) "In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself."
Beginning each day with God’s Word is beginning each day with the Creator of the day Himself. Read, study, and meditate on God’s Word daily with the help of the Holy Spirit. Because God’s Word is light, wisdom, Spirit, and life (Psalm 119:130; Matthew 7:24; John 6:63), time invested in the Word redeems our day. As we begin each day in the Word, the darkness in the world will not gain ground within us, and the darkness within us will be enlightened (Psalm 18:28). A day without feeding in the pasture of God's Word is a day we have chosen not to live. For it is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).
Consider living by this principle: No Bible, no breakfast. That is, a commitment that your physical body will not receive nourishment until you feed on the Word. You can keep yourself accountable by signing up for a 365 days, 6 months, or 120 days New Testament, Old Testament, or Full Bible reading plan. I find it very helpful.
Meditate by declaring the following slowly and intentionally for 10 minutes; then practice being still for 4 minutes listening for what God is saying:
God’s Word enters me and enlightens my darkness. I meditate in the Word daily.
